Insurgent is the sequel to Divergent, and is the second book in the Divergent trilogy written by Veronica Roth. In Divergent, Tris chooses Dauntless as her new faction, instead of staying in Abnegation, but she was given three factions to choose from from the tests. The system usually only gives you one faction, but those given more than one are called Divergent. Tris has to battle with other initiates to finally become a member of the Dauntless. Divergent people don't get affected by simulations and can learn how to manipulate them to their will. In the end of Divergent, when all Dauntless are under a simulation, she kills Will and is she is constantly in fear of picking a gun up again and she doesn't know how to tell her friend Cristina that she has killed her boyfriend. By this time the factionless and the factions are choosing sides and are beginning to fight against each other.
